This picture is an acute focus on the human cruelty that is
meant to be human kind.
The painting was commissioned to promote a short film
made by women in Bethlehem. In this documentary the
mother, her husband and mother in law tell the story of
how she gave birth at the check point in front of Israeli
soldiers imitating her screams of pain. There is a moment
of joy to know they have a son as it is six years since the
birth of their first daughter. When they finally reach the
hospital the baby has died.
